She's here!
Virginia Mae Harvatine was born January 18, at home. She was 9 pounds even and 22 inches long. Labor was hard (I pushed for SIX hours) but I'm so glad we had her at home. It was definitely the right choice for us. Is anyone interested in hearing the birth story? I'd be happy to share if you want.
My mom came to town four days before Ginny was born so we had a nice little visit before the main event. My dad arrived a week later for a visit. Ginny is the first grandchild in my family so they are very excited.
We're all doing really well, enjoying a couple of weeks off for Harv. We're very tired but so happy to have our little girl here at last!

ReplyDeleteOh, Liz. I'm so happy for you guys! Ginny is really beautiful. People say that about every baby, but she's really and truly beautiful. The first picture looks just like you. :o)
ReplyDeleteI totally think you should blog your birth story. I'm not a home birth kind of girl for my own reasons, but I think it's important to tell your story! There are loads of moms-to-be out there who think their only choice is to have the baby in the hospital, and you can enlighten them! :o)
Is she loving the Moby? Are you loving the Moby?
Now go rest. :o) Congratulations again!

ReplyDeleteShe is stunningly beautiful. I'm a little misty (I love babies). Also, you and I had a very similar birth experience! My son was born at home and was also 9 lbs even and 22 inches long (but this was 13 and a half years ago)! How funny! Congratulations on your gorgeous new family member. You're all adorable together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
I was thinking what a great year this is turning out to be for your family... a healthy daughter, obviously a strong and capable mama, a proud father, and the Packers playing *some big game* later this week!
May this commence many more blessings and joys!
She's adorable, and I love the name you chose! Congrtulations.
ReplyDeleteShe already looks SO much like you! These photos are gorgeous! Congrats! Can't wait to meet her in person!
ReplyDeleteShe is just absolutely beautiful! I'm glad to hear your home birth went well. We planned a home birth for our 3rd child. Unfortunately some unexpected complications at the end of pregnancy arose. My midwife and I decided not to take any chances and we delivered him at a hospital. I would love to hear your birth story! Congratulations to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY! Congratulations! And you had her at home! Way to go, mama! (Also, six hours? Holy guacamole! I pushed for 2.5, and that was rough. I can't imagine.) You all look so radiant and happy in your family photo!
ReplyDeleteYESSSSS!!! I've been stalking your blog for DAYS waiting for this entry! I can't wait to hear the birth story, and meet her in person. She looks JUST like you in that first photo! What a beautiful girl!
ReplyDeletecongratulations! what a little sweetie!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, she is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHooray! So glad to hear an update that all is well with you. I hope you will share your birth story. As a midwife I love to hear them, and I feel it's good that we tell our stories of normal birth. Trust your mama instincts, keep napping when Ginny naps, and enjoy this precious time. As my own midwife would remind me, the days are long, but the weeks and months are short... Every possible blessing to your family in this unique and precious time.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you and your newest family member! I had a childhood friend named Ginny, brings back memories. She is a very pretty baby, enjoy her. They grow up way too fast! Seem like just yesterday I had my first... now her daughter is 9 months old! I don't know where the time went! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely...Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWould love to read her birth story....esp. a home birth! Such gentle beginnings.
Look forward to a lot of typing one handed...I am typing one handed as I hold a four month old....any ty0pos?

ReplyDeleteI love birth stories! Please do share. And a thousand, thousand congrats to you & Harv.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations~ I love the last pic of your family. Doesn't it feel wonderful?
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you've got her in a wrap too (which you look great in, btw), I loved wearing my son when he was small. I know it's a bit early still, but when she gets bigger, please consider the Ergo Baby Backpack carrier. It was possibly the best $100 I ever spent.
I'm so happy for you. Enjoy her~
Congrats. She is just beautiful!!! And a wonderful family photo!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! We would have loved to have had our child at home, but I'm kinda glad we didn't. My labor was long and hard and he had to be vacuumed out in the end :( Maybe next time, though. Would love to hear your story, though!
