Two Tops

I enjoy every aspect of quilting, except for the basting.  And I don't even baste with needle and thread, I use pins!  It's just the whole process of moving the furniture, sweeping the floor, crawling around on my hands and knees.  I don't dig it.

These two quilt tops have been waiting patiently for several weeks now.  I'm trying to will myself to get it over with instead of just starting a third top.  That idea is very tempting.

  1. Agreed. Basting is never very fun. Also much harder to do when the 120 pound dog thinks that basting means that it's time to play Twister with you on the floor. It's kind of counterproductive.

  2. Ugh ... basting. And I'm a pinner, too! I wonder if I could rig up a clothesline in my living room and pin it as it's hanging instead? Think I'll try that on the next quilt top.

  3. i like basting spray. except that i don't like the feeling that i'm going to be poisioned from the fumes. but i only quilt like once a year so i think i'm safe.

  4. My friend Ara has a different way of basting which is to roll up the batting with the top and then start unrolling and pinning. I've tried it and its FAR EASIER to prepare. Honest. lol

I'm a pinner too. I hate basting spray. I get less puckers with pins. I do get a headache from crouching on the floor basting. I'm just waiting on a box of battin to turn up, then I have 6 quilts to baste. I hear ya.
